The D'Aguilar-class is a lightly armed, lightly armoured corvette of human make, stuffed with imaging equipment and a crew of eight. Unlike a frigate, which has some bite to it, the D'Aguilar-class's only means and asset in an engagement is its ability to get as far away from the danger as quickly as possible. D'Aguilars may be used to scout planets and landscapes (and as such, the Alliance Geological Survey maintains a modest flotilla), as well as conduct space recon where a frigate is unnecessary or unsuitable. It may also be modified for special forces purposes.
